Born 1953 in Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria. He studied mineralogy and mathematics at the University of Vienna (PhD in 1979). Since 1980 he is with the Department of Mineralogy and Petrography at the Natural History Museum in Vienna. He is specialised in mineral analysis by scanning electron microscopy and electron microprobe techniques. His research interests are the mineralogy and petrology of meteorites.
