With Apollo 11, the first lunar mission Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins, brought back from the Moon in 1969 the first samples of lunar rocks (58 samples for a total weight of 21.6 kg). Armalcolite a new mineral species found in lunar rocks was named in their honour.
