Classification, atlas

 

Goldschmidt published from 1913 to 1923 his 20 volumes of the famous " Atlas der Krystallformen ".

 

Shand published in 1913 a list of mineral being unstable in the presence of free silica.

 

Machatschky established circa 1920 a structural classification of silicates. He will then introduced in 1945 the principles of notation for the structural - chemical formulas of crystallised minerals.

 

Zoltaļ , Liebau and Belov carried out circa 1960 their work on the silicates classification.

 

Christ circa 1960 studied the structural classification of borates.

 

Strunz circa 1960 studied the structural classification of germanates.

 

Lowenstam established in 1963 a first list of biogenic minerals formed during biomineralisation process.
